Feedback On New HerbCat Release

HI all,

Please write any feedback on the new release of HerbCat both good and Bad. If you have spotted any errors or problems then please let me know etc. Also keep thinking about improvements, would any of the new functionality work well on other fields?

Thanks, Sarah

Useful website

Hi all,

Just found an interesting and useful wesite called the discoverlife. It has collection of all sort of biological and ecological resources specimen records, taxon info, id keys and all things an ecologist could wish for!! To have a look at it click here Hope it is helpful!

Country: Formosa

Hi all,

Formosa in the country field of HerbCat is a TDWG value that actually relates to the Argentine province Formosa. However as you have seen Formosa is also found on some specimens from Region 4 and is actually Taiwan. Whoever has the region that covers Taiwan may want to look at this further. Therefore for these specimens please put Taiwan in the Country field and Formosa in the Country from Label Field. Hopefully when the new version of HerbCat is released the relationships between states and countries will become clearer.

Thanks

Sarah

LAPI becomes GPI

As we're now transitioning into GPI and the bulk of our digitising has moved out of LAPI and into GPI, I feel it's time to change our name. I've changed the title of the site to Global Plants Initiative (GPI) but that is all that has changed so the URL lapi.myspecies.info will still work.

SRLI Scratchpad

The Sampled Red List Index (SRLI) team at Kew have got a great well established scratchpad that's worth a visit. The blogs area is a good place to start, with lots of useful links for digitising.

Collector's Lists

The Natural History Museum have a useful collector's database. There are two sections for Africa and Latin America, however I think they search the same database.
