This is one of the 8 to 11 species of the genus Sarracenia -common names are North American pitcher plant, cobra lily and marsh-pitcher- and they are all native to Northern America. Sarracenia leucophylla is listed on CITES Appendix II and its vulnerable status
is mostly due to the loss or degradation of wetland habitats, use of
herbicides and influence of invasive exotic species. This specimen of
Sarracenia leucophylla was collected by Chapman(1809-1899) in Florida and it is kept in the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.(Isabel Varela Garrido)
